When Briana Marie Sanchez looks back on her time at Stanislaus State, her memories don’t include much about the campus.  

As she addresses her fellow Stanislaus State graduates during Friday’s 8 a.m. commencement ceremony for the College of Science, Nina Lydon has much to reflect upon. 

When asked why he enrolled at Stanislaus State four years ago, Krishan Malhotra, who as a Ceres High School student never wanted to go to college, was blunt.

Established in 1970 by Lee Metzger and joined by the Geiger family in 1999, the Metzger-Geiger Award honors the graduating Stanislaus State undergraduate students with the highest grade-point average. 

The Class of 2023 has eight students graduating with perfect 4.0 grade-point averages, including one, Ethan Machado, who maintained that perfection in both computer science and economics.

High school students from throughout the greater Turlock area have the opportunity to submit artworks for entry in this annual, juried art exhibition hosted by the Stanislaus State Art Gallery. The exhibition includes an evening reception, highlighted by an awards ceremony honoring exceptional student artists.
