Take Back the Night, a week-long series of educational events to combat violence of all types, including sexual violence, will be featured at Stanislaus State April 25-29.

According to Meg Lewis, training manager and deputy Title IX coordinator, the events cap off what has been a busy year of training and awareness efforts for Stanislaus State, as colleges across the country are following the congressional mandate to address sexual violence on campuses.

 

Stanislaus State women’s soccer coach Gabriel Bolton was looking for a new way for his team to improve in the off-season, and what he has added to the regimen has more to do with working between the ears than between the goal lines.

 

Stanislaus State senior Channing Wilson, a Turlock High School graduate, has been selected as an American Kinesiology Association Undergraduate Scholar for 2016.

The award is given to a select number of students from 140 member university programs whose academic and leadership records are distinctive. The winners have demonstrated exceptional interest in the field of kinesiology and possess personal qualities that lend themselves to assuming leadership positions.

​Louie Oliveira admits seeing Stanislaus State’s connected system of lakes and ponds from a different perspective than most people.

“We’re so fortunate to have these lakes on campus,” said Oliveira, chief operating engineer in the University’s Facilities Services department. “I look at them as giant rain barrels.”

The seventh annual production of Shakespeare Under the Stars will continue the tradition of bringing an outstanding live theatre experience to the Central Valley community. Performances will be held in the outdoor University Amphitheatre May 3-8, and admission is free.

 

Dr. James T. Strong, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Stanislaus State, is pleased to announce the recipients of the outstanding professor awards and the Elizabeth Anne B. Papageorge Faculty Development Award for the 2015-16 academic year.

Stanislaus State will host CSU Chancellor Timothy P. White for a visit on Tuesday, March 22. The chancellor, who oversees 23 campuses with a student population of nearly 460,000, will tour the campus before participating in an open forum from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Event Center. The forum is open to both the University community and the public. A news conference will follow.

 

It is with great sadness that we share news of the passing of Professor Emeritus of Botany, Steven J. Wolf.  Professor Wolf, 66, who taught at Stanislaus State for 21 years, died Sunday when the vehicle he was driving left the road and plunged into a creek near the Placer County town of Foresthill.
