Stanislaus State has been named a 2018 Champion of Higher Education for Excellence in Transfer for its success in significantly increasing the number of transfer students with Associate Degrees for Transfer (ADT) it accepts and graduates.

Stanislaus State is being honored for the increase in ADT transfers it accepted during the 2017-18 academic year. Of the 938 transfers who enrolled at Stan State in 2017-18, 481 (51 percent) held ADT status, a 159 percent increase over the previous year. The Campaign for College Opportunity, which sponsors the awards, honored 12 community colleges and four CSUs this year.

The ADT was created in California in 2010 and created a clear pathway for community college students to earn an associate degree with guaranteed admission as juniors to the CSU system. To date, more than 100,000 students statewide have earned an ADT, and those students have completed bachelor’s degrees faster and at a higher rate than students who transferred without an ADT.

“Thanks to these institutions’ implementation of the Associate Degree for Transfer, thousands of students achieve their goals to cross the graduation stage every year,” said Michele Siqueiros, president of the Campaign for College Opportunity. “This year’s Champions of Higher Education are shining examples of what happens when colleges and universities embrace policy that supports California students.”
