An Assortment of Free Activities and Resources Support Student Success While Raising Consciousness About Food and Housing Insecurity
November 14, 2021

Stanislaus State is observing National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, Nov. 15-19, with an assortment of free activities and resources aimed at supporting student success and raising awareness of food and housing insecurity.

This is the fourth year Stan State has observed the annual awareness week, which is sponsored by a coalition of 41 national organizations to educate the public and recruit volunteers and supporters for local anti-poverty agencies.

To address food and housing insecurity among its students, Stan State offers the free Warrior Food Pantry, food distribution events, emergency housing and crisis assistance through its Basic Needs program.

“Some of our students are struggling to make ends meet. They might be skipping meals or have no secure place to sleep at night,” said Basic Needs Care Manager Jen Sturtevant. “The safety net we provide is critical for them.”
