The Writing Center works collaboratively with undergraduates and graduate students to develop and craft their writing. Usually, tutors first address larger issues, such as focus, organization, and development; then, tutors assist writers with sentence-level issues, such as grammar, punctuation, and diction. We welcome questions about any part of the reading, writing, and research process.
Fall 2026 Tutoring Services
Online and in-person from September 8 - December 8, 2026.
Pre-scheduled appointments - 50 minutes
Monday - Thursday

Appointments can be booked on StanTutor as early as 10-days before the appointment and as late as 48-hours prior. We encourage booking a recurring appointment and working with the same tutor each week, but one-time appointments are available as well.

Same-Day appointments must be made on the day the student needs the appointment-similar to "Drop-in" appointments. You may request one session per day, up to two per week. Appointments will be cancelled and reassigned if you arrive in L221 or sign onto Zoom more than 5 minutes after your session begins.

We offer graduate students a variety of ways to receive support and feedback on their writing. Graduate students can schedule appointments for help with writing assignments, thesis papers, cumulative writing projects, letters of intent for doctoral programs, professional documents, and more!

Research Workshops provide students with help on the research and writing process in the same space! Students can get support from both a librarian and writing tutors as they work on research and writing assignments. View the Research Workshops schedule on the University Library website.
We are located on the second floor of the library in L260 and available Mondays and Tuesdays from 3:00 - 4:00 pm.
Graduate Research and Writing Workshops are offered on the third Wednesday of the month via Zoom from 4:30 - 5:50 pm. these workshops are facilitated by Writing Center faculty coaches, librarians, and graduate peer tutors. Get help with academic writing in various styles, the research process, literature reviews, synthesis, citations and References pages, and more.
Register for one or all of the Fall 2026 workshops: September 16th, October 21st, and November 18th.
We encourage students enrolled in WP courses to schedule weekly appointments with a WP TA early in the term. WP TA's will work alongside you to develop your disciplinary-specific reading, research, and writing abilities.

We provide services that are convenient and accessible for our Stockton Campus and Continuing and Professional Education (CaPE) students, including online tutoring, asynchronous tutoring, and the Writer's Online Resource Directory (W.O.R.D.). Students and tutors have access to links, handouts, and other interactive resources to get help with a variety of writing issues and concerns. Our Writer's Online Resource Directory (W.O.R.D.) can be accessed during a tutoring session in the Writing Center or on your personal device.
