A protégé is an active student participant in the Faculty Mentor Program. Each protégé selects the participating faculty they would like to develop a mentoring relationship with. Mentors and Protégés have the ability to attend events that fit their interest and schedules. All FMP's events are completely voluntary for protégés and mentors. Scheduled meetings between protégés and mentors, besides program events, are arranged between mentor and protégés. Protégés are able to make lasting relationships with their mentors.

  1. Complete the Protege Application online (link available at the top of the page).

  2.  When you submit the form, wait approximately one to two weeks and you will be emailed your mentor’s information. During the waiting period, FMP Staff will be contacting mentors which may take some time. Students may also select a faculty member from the online FMP Mentor list and put into the form the mentor they would like to choose.

  3. Once given your mentor, E-mail your them to find a good time to meet in person (e.g. at their office, over coffee, etc.).

  4. Once you have submitted your Protege Application and get matched with a Mentor, you are officially in the Faculty Mentor Program. You will be put on our emailing list in order to receive information about upcoming events, scholarships, and other student support services and opportunities for student success.
