Dr. Brodie-Crumsey has been teaching at the graduate level for nineteen years. She received her Ph.D. from Howard University in Washington, D.C., in 2008; obtained her Master of Social Work degree from Stan State in 1998; and earned a bachelor’s degree in 1994 from Clark Atlanta University in Georgia. Dr. Brodie-Crumsey chaired Stan State's President's Commission on Diversity & Inclusion for nine years.
Her research interests focus on advocacy for underrepresented and disenfranchised groups. In 2013, she was appointed by former California Governor Edmund G. Brown, Jr. to the State Council on Developmental Disabilities and reappointed in 2018 by Governor Gavin Newsom. Dr. Brodie-Crumsey has worked as a county child welfare worker and for neighborhood-based community collaboratives. She has been providing trainings for human service organizations for 25 years.

8/10 – 6/14 Assistant Professor: Taught graduate-level research courses – Data Analysis, Research Methods, and Capstone; chaired student theses; served on departmental, college-level, and university-wide committees; advised students; and demonstrated social justice in the community through scholarly activities focused on advocacy of underrepresented groups.

Assistant Professor: Responsibilities included teaching foundation and advanced master of social work courses; serving on department and university committees; developing and maintaining an active research agenda; student advising; ongoing participation in curriculum development.

Title IV-E Child Welfare Project Coordinator: Responsible for student recruitment, screening selection, and tracking in the IV-E program; developed child welfare-focused curriculum; academic advising of students; taught field seminar; oversaw programmatic and fiscal functions of the project; worked with field instructors and agency representatives to enhance student practicum experiences.
