Research & Teaching Interests

My interests are broadly situated in the areas of organizational communication, strategic communication, and health. Specifically, I am interested in the ways communication constitutes organization – seeing organizations as discursive, fluid entities defined by stakeholder practices and communication processes. Sub-areas of interest are: identity, socialization, identification, decision-making, and collaboration in organizations.

My teaching philosophy can be summarized as one that bridges theory and practice while providing engaging reading materials and class discussions on contemporary topics. I have extensive experience in classroom and online teaching and specialize in the following areas: organizational communication, persuasion, communication theory, health communication, conflict, negotiation, professional interviewing and presentation, and social media.
