Photographer Phil Marquez is interested in the landscape found in middle-class suburbia. He is fascinated with the sphere and cube-shaped topiaries that originated in the Victorian era by the upper-class and mankind’s need to control the environment. He captures the controlled environment at a straight-on, eye-level view which emphasizes an unemotional, detached and matter-of-fact approach
