I am pleased to be joining Student Support Services as the Director. I am here to help our program succeed and ensure you are receiving the best service possible.
Stan State has been my home away from home for the past 10 years. Before joining SSS, I served as the Director for the Central Valley Math and Science Alliance in support of STEM majors. Prior to that I held multiple advising roles with PACE, EOP, and Career Services.
I realize that each student brings unique circumstances, backgrounds, and personalities to the university environment. I believe students can accomplish their goals if they commit to taking the needed steps and I value being a part of their journey. I encourage you to take advantage of available assistance and resources and to challenge yourself to see and meet your potential.

My name is Marsha Bond-Nelson, and I am excited to begin my journey as an academic advisor in the Student Support Services (SSS) here at Stanislaus State. I am looking forward to meeting and learning about each and every one of you over the next several weeks. A little information about myself; some of my favorite hobbies are horseback riding, boating, hiking, and traveling. One of my passions is to help students have a successful transition to a 4-year university and discover ways to reach their goals.
When I decided to go back to college a few years after high school, I was not sure where to start. I decided to take courses at Modesto Junior College and earned my AA degree in Behavioral and Social Sciences, with a major in Geography. With the guidance of friends and mentors, I finally transferred to UC Merced and earned my B.A. degree in World Cultures and History. I learned very quickly that working full-time and learning to balance my own research was a challenging task. To help me adjust, I became part of a program that mentored transfer students in an effort to help them adjust to the life of a 4-year university. My career and education have led me to Stanislaus State to help students in the way so many others helped and believed in me through my own education.
I come to you with the understanding of how important advising support is to students on their educational journey, and I am here to help you stay on your path to success!

Hi! My name is Jesus Verdugo, but most of the time people refer to me as Chuy. I am very excited to continue to work with Student Support Services and will give my upmost dedication to make this a wonderful experience for all of you! I graduated from Patterson High and came to Stanislaus State as an Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) admit in 2000. I am a former EOP, Summer Bridge, and SSS student and have worked in multiple areas on campus both as a student and as a professional. The advisors in EOP were my link to SSS. I became an SSS student in 2002 and later graduated from Stanislaus State with a B.A. in Spanish.
I myself am a first generation, low-income, "Latina" college student and if I did it, so can you! Si Se Puede! Truly believe in yourself and others will begin to do the same. Shortly after, you will see many doors open for you with wonderful opportunities. I look forward to working with you to help you achieve your career goals.
Hello, my name is Regina Droll and I’m the Writing Specialist here at Stanislaus State’s Student Support Services. I’m here because of the passion I have to see you succeed and reach your goals, whatever they may be.
I’m a graduate from Stanislaus State as of 2015 with a BA in,…you guessed it, English! I also started out as a transfer student from Modesto Jr. College. I hope to use my education and writing experience to further help you in all areas. Having worked as a Writing Tutor in Stan State’s Tutoring Center, I’ve helped students with their grammar, reading/writing, essay revision, WPST, in-class assignments and test preparation. I’m here to further help you with your own writing needs! Make an appointment to meet with me and discuss any questions or concerns you have with an assignment…essay, grammar, text interpretation, a test, resume’ and cover letter (for work or grad school), MLA/APA formatting, and general reading and writing. I would love to help you! There isn’t a question too small, so don’t hesitate to drop by!
A little background is that I love to be creative! Playing acoustic and piano for CSU’s Warrior Grill, Multicultural Festival, and Relay for Life in the past were a blast! Plus, an original song “Joy”, recorded by CSU’s KCSS radio station, can be found on youtube. An original poem “Time”, is in CSU’s 2012 Penumbra Art and Literary Journal, and original art titled, “Healing Waters” in the 2014 edition. Also, as a student in the Masters of Education program with Professional Clinical Counseling (PCC), I hope to help people in the future who have suffered from addiction, loss and trauma. I am passionate about seeing you shine and I absolutely love the students on our CSU campus! My hope is that you walk away inspired!
While finishing my BA, I faced many unforeseen challenges and obstacles, but with the right support system and mindset, I got my miracle. I say this because your mountain will be attainable and your goals possible! Every struggle I faced, I overcame and so can you! Come by to see me and know this – all things are possible!
