Science Camps

Science Saturday

The Science in Our Community group is looking to start a new outreach activity with the piloting of a Science Camp.  These camps will involve multiple days exploring a science discipline with lots of activities.  These are hosted by the faculty, staff, and students of Stan State. 

There is no charge to attend the Science Camps. Seating is limited and RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED. Please call 209-667-3311 to reserve your place at any of these fun science events.

July 16-20

Appropriate for Grades 6-8

This activity will be of interest to students who are interested in learning about the wondrous living creatures you can find around Turlock.  You will do the following:

  • Think like a scientist and create your own field guide ​
  • Discover local plant species
  • Interact with California’s reptiles and amphibians
  • Collect your own specimens
  • Identify insects in our community

TI Coding Workshop  

Science Saturday; coding with robots

June 5, 6 & 7

8:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Appropriate for Grades 7-12

This activity will be of interest to students who are interested in learning robotics and coding.  You will do the following:

  • Write programs that control the light, LED and sound devices on the Hub
  • Use loops to control color and sound
  • Us If..then...Else...End statements to adjust the brightness level to affect output devices
  • Explore further functionality of the TI-Inovator™ Hub, TI-Innovator™ Rover and  programming using TI-Nspire™ CX

This activity will be of interest to students who are interested in learning robotics and coding.  You will do the following:

  • Learn to code using Ozobots
  • Perform activities and complete tasks using the Ozobots
  • Integrate STEM subject material into other content areas
  • Meet students with an interest in coding
  • Let's create, learn, and play!
