1. Get Familiar with Our Website
Before each registration period, all students must have an advising session:
- In the fall for winter and spring terms
- In the spring for summer and fall terms
After your advising session, your major advisor will clear the advising hold in the University system. Once this hold is cleared, you can register via your myStanState portal any time after the designated registration date and time.
2. Schedule an Appointment with Your Advisor
Students are assigned a major advisor, and you are responsible for scheduling an appointment with them during the advising period. You can find your advisor on Warrior Connect. Advising appointments typically occur during the four weeks before priority registration. Most appointments are scheduled through Warrior Connect. If you need to reschedule, do so at least 24 hours before your appointment.

3. Prepare for Your Appointment
To prepare for your advising session, use the appropriate worksheets for your catalog year and complete the Advising Chart provided at the bottom of the page. Make sure to fill out the form and have it available for discussion during your appointment.
