Born and raised in Oxnard CA, Liliana Manriquez completed her Bachelor's in Psychology with a minor in Chicano Studies from CSU Channel Islands and a Master of Science in Mexican American Studies from The University of Arizona. Focusing her work on First Generation College Students Navigating Their Mental Health and Indigenous Wellness Practices. After completing her Master's program she began working for Mixteco Indigena Community Organizing Project's (MICOP) research named Curando El Alma. This study tested and validated the use of traditional indigenous wellness practices to combat symptoms associated with stress, anxiety, and depression. Currently Liliana is continuing her work at MICOP as the Program Coordinator of Proyecto ACCESO, utilizing funds from the California Department of Developmental Services, ACCESO provides advocacy and case management to Mixteco Indigenous families who have children with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
