Dr. Emma Joy Jampole (she/her) serves as Assistant Professor of Music and Coordinator of Music Education at California State University, Stanislaus. Dr. Jampole previously worked as a lecturer at Northwestern University's Bienen School of Music and as an adjunct faculty member at Northeastern Illinois University. Before her appointment at Northwestern University, Dr. Jampole served as band and orchestra director, general music teacher, and district music department chair with the Wilmette, Illinois public schools. She has performed professionally on the bassoon, clarinet, saxophone, and bass guitar. 
 
Dr. Jampole earned her PhD at the University of Wisconsin-Madison; Master of Science in Education at Northern Illinois University; and Bachelor of Music Education at Northwestern University. Her work has appeared in the Music Educators Journal; the Gender, Education, Music, and Society Journal; and The Instrumentalist. Dr. Jampole has presented sessions at the NAfME Music Research and Teacher Education National Conference; College Music Society National Convention; Midwest Clinic; Feminist Theory and Music Education Conference; LGBTQ Studies in Music Education (QMUE) Symposium; and Illinois and Wisconsin Music Educators Association Conferences. Her current research focuses on transgender and other queer identities in music teaching and learning.
