Dr. Chia Xiong is an assistant professor of Ethnic Studies at Stanislaus State. She completed her PhD in Sociology from UC Merced and B.A. and M.A. from Sacramento State. Her teaching and research interests include critical refugee studies, immigration, and deportation. Specifically, she examines how systems of inequities shape Southeast Asian refugee experiences and belonging. She has published in American Behavioral Scientist and has years of professional experience working with youths from underserved neighborhoods.
