I am a recent graduate at UC Merced from the Interdisciplinary Humanities program and have teaching experience at Merced College and CSU Stanislaus. I have experience teaching sociology, geography, anthropology, and Native Studies. I also have a culinary degree and love to apply food to all the above disciplines.
During my undergraduate degree program at the University of Oregon, I was the recipient of both the Student Parent and Nontraditional Student awards. I have tried to take the experience of being a student parent and implement teaching methods that are more inclusive and leverage diversity in the classroom.
My research is focused on Native American mapmakers and how spatial technology supports critical pedagogy and land-based knowledge-making. As part of my findings of this research, I supported the premise that Western styles of teaching and learning can benefit from Indigenous epistemology and holistic approaches in exchanges of knowledge that is anti-colonial and antiracist.
Also, I like to hike and fish :)
