Professor Edward H. Hernandez and students Jessica Garcia and Alejandra Delgadillo will continue Stanislaus State’s 11-year run of awards at the annual HR Symposium, which will be held Tuesday, April 26, in Santa Clara.
Hernandez will be awarded the 2016 Human Resource Excellence Award after being nominated by a large group of Bay Area-based Stan State alumni who have used their Stan State educations to gain employment as human resource professionals.
Take Back the Night, a week-long series of educational events to combat violence of all types, including sexual violence, will be featured at Stanislaus State April 25-29.
According to Meg Lewis, training manager and deputy Title IX coordinator, the events cap off what has been a busy year of training and awareness efforts for Stanislaus State, as colleges across the country are following the congressional mandate to address sexual violence on campuses.
Stanislaus State senior Channing Wilson, a Turlock High School graduate, has been selected as an American Kinesiology Association Undergraduate Scholar for 2016.
The award is given to a select number of students from 140 member university programs whose academic and leadership records are distinctive. The winners have demonstrated exceptional interest in the field of kinesiology and possess personal qualities that lend themselves to assuming leadership positions.
Keeping things cool. The cooling tower is the heart of the campus air conditioning system.
Louie Oliveira admits seeing Stanislaus State’s connected system of lakes and ponds from a different perspective than most people.
“We’re so fortunate to have these lakes on campus,” said Oliveira, chief operating engineer in the University’s Facilities Services department. “I look at them as giant rain barrels.”
The student cast, from left to right, includes Lexi Silva as Julia, Luke Gonzales as Proteus, Christopher Graham as Valentine and Kayla DiDonato as Silvia.
The seventh annual production of Shakespeare Under the Stars will continue the tradition of bringing an outstanding live theatre experience to the Central Valley community. Performances will be held in the outdoor University Amphitheatre May 3-8, and admission is free.
Dr. James T. Strong, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Stanislaus State, is pleased to announce the recipients of the outstanding professor awards and the Elizabeth Anne B. Papageorge Faculty Development Award for the 2015-16 academic year.
