Viewing the Calendar

The calendar provides a great place to view your course due dates, timelines, and to get organized. This is created automatically for each user and is easy to use.

Every user has their own calendar in Canvas that displays a combination of personal events and events or dates coming from courses.

Setting Up Attendance in a Course

Whether your course is occurring live over Zoom or in person, you can use Canvas's Attendance tool to keep track of student attendance.

This page explains how to add a custom link (URL) to the left-hand navigation of a Canvas course using the Redirect Tool app. The Redirect Tool can be used to add an unlimited number of custom links to a course.

Access the new analytics tool using the New Analytics button in your course.

Adding an Assignment

Canvas Assignment can be used to collect a submission from students electronically, provide instructions for and remind students about an in-class activity, and track extra credit. 

Sending an Announcement to your Class

You can send a welcome message or other important announcement to your students right from your Canvas course. This ensures all students in the course receive your message. Students can view announcements directly in Canvas, the Canvas Student App, or via their Stan State email. Students may visit the Announcements area to view all previously sent announcements.
