California State University, Stanislaus invites veterans and their families to honor the dedication and loyalty of American service men and women at Thank a Veteran Day on Wednesday.

What: Thank a Veteran Day features a posting of colors ceremony followed by a small reception and information fair for veterans of various ages and backgrounds. There will be a banner and cards for guests to sign that will be sent to those currently serving in Afghanistan and Iraq.

California State University, Stanislaus History Professor Samuel Regalado will appear in a special up-coming documentary on ESPN about Los Angeles Dodgers' Mexican pitching sensation Fernando Valenzuela.

Dr. Regalado is recognized for his expertise on the impact of Latin baseball players in American professional baseball. Valenzuela was prominently featured in Dr. Regalado’s book "Viva Baseball: Latin Major Leaguers and their Special Hunger."
The Center for Portuguese Studies at California State University, Stanislaus invites the community to attend a reception and talk celebrating the spirit and history of the Azores, homeland of many San Joaquin Valley families.

WHAT: The event is geared toward second and third generation Portuguese-Americans who want to learn more about their heritage through a talk entitled “Azores: Spirit and History of a Portuguese Culture.”

CSU Stanislaus urban geography students are working with Orville Wright fourth graders to map community assets and challenges in the fourth graders’ airport neighborhood.
 
California State University, Stanislaus has been awarded $5.8 million in federal grants to provide additional resources to underserved Hispanic and low-income students.

The funding is comprised of two Title V grants that are specifically for Hispanic-serving institutions.* CSU Stanislaus’ student body population is 30.7 percent Hispanic.
