Associated Students, Inc. at California State University, Stanislaus is partnering with the California Transplant Donor Network to participate in the Donate Life California Campus Challenge aimed at registering new organ donors.

Scheduled to run through November 20, the program is part of a competition with other college campuses in California to increase the number of registered organ donors. The campus with the most sign-ups will receive a trophy, according to Sean Newland, ASI Recreation and Wellness Coordinator at CSU Stanislaus.

CSU Stanislaus employees and students are being encouraged to sign up on the “Donate Life California Organ & Tissue Donor Registry.” Participants can sign up at www.donatelifecalifornia.org/csustanislaus and are asked to also fill out the organ donor card when renewing their driver’s licenses at the Department of Motor Vehicles.

Information about the organ donor process can be accessed on Donate Life California’s Web site at www.donatelifecalifornia.org/about/facts/myths/.

Newland is also encouraging CSU Stanislaus employees and students to share their personal stories about themselves or family members whose lives have been saved by an organ donor, or who are currently awaiting a life-saving organ transplant. Send stories and photos to ecampaign@ctdn.org.
