A basketball star at Turlock High School, Cameron Walker pursued his athletic career at Porterville College before deciding to come home to finish his college career with friends.
“Both my parents are alumni of Stan State as well, so it felt like the right decision,” Walker said.
His dad, Undrae Walker, was a standout track and field athlete and was inducted into the Warriors Athletics Hall of Fame in 2000. Undrae Walker was a four-time conference champion in the high jump and became an NCAA Division II All-American when he won the national title in 1994.
His son’s athletic prowess was on the basketball court, where he was Turlock High School’s three-time captain, two-time most valuable player and graduated as the school’s second leading scorer in history.
Cameron Walker was a two-year starter at Stan State and was the team captain in 2024-25. His accomplishments extend beyond the hardwood.
He’ll graduate with a business administration degree with an emphasis in finance and a minor in economics.
“Hopefully I can use my degree to work at a business in our region so I can help be the change in our area and show how important and great the Central Valley is to outsiders,” Walker said.
First, though, he hopes to have more hoops in him. He is pursuing the possibility of playing basketball overseas.
Talented though he may be as a basketball player, Walker was not a one-dimensional student at Stan State.
“Cameron is constantly giving back to the community he grew up in,” said Men’s Basketball Coach Paul Trevor. “He has represented Stan State basketball and the University with his countless hours of community service throughout the elementary schools.”
Additionally, Walker attended the California State University Young Males of Color Consortium as a junior.
As a community college transfer, Walker appreciated the short time he had at Stan State and tried to embrace every moment before it was gone.
“The most powerful thing I’ve taken away from my time here is to not take the days for granted,” he said. “You only have a limited time here so appreciate it and make it worth it.”
He did that, he said, from the time he arrived and recommends it for future Warriors.
“Find a good group of people around you with similar interests to go along with you on this journey,” Walker advises. “I was able to do that my first weekend at Stan State and it made the transition to a new school very easy.”

What memories stand out most from your time at Stanislaus State?
“Being able to come back home and play college basketball with teammates and coaches I now consider family. Warrior Day, where there was a great concert with all your friends having fun.”
Which faculty or staff member had the greatest impact on you, and why?
“Paul Trevor was my basketball coach and just always had supreme confidence in me as a player and as a young man. His lessons and teachings were valuable to me not just for basketball but in life as well.”
What advice would you give to current and future students?
“Live in the moment. You’re only in college once, so don’t let memories and days pass you by without really appreciating them. For future students, have as much fun as you can, but don’t get away from why you’re at Stan State. Remember the end goal is a meaningful degree that will last beyond the four years you’re in college.”
