Gabriela Nuño

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Gabriela Nuño will begin her new role as Chief of Staff in the Office of the President at Stanislaus State on June 2.

Dr. Nuño brings nearly two decades of higher education experience and a depth of knowledge about Stanislaus State and the California State University system to her new role.

With a strong commitment to student success and inclusive excellence, Nuño brings a proven ability to foster collaboration, strengthen partnerships, and advance shared goals. Her experience and leadership will help harness our collective strengths in support of the University’s mission.

In her most recent role as the executive director of the Advising and Success Center at Stan State, she has led major student success initiatives across Academic and Student Affairs, including the development of the University’s first-year success program, expansion of support services for transfer and first-generation students, and implementation of advising technologies and strategic retention efforts. With a passion for the advancement of the University’s mission as a Hispanic Serving Institution, she also led efforts for the design and implementation of a multi-campus program to support the enrollment and degree attainment of Hispanic and low-income transfer students in STEM.

Her strong organizational, project management and change leadership skills — as well as her abilities as a bilingual communicator — will serve her well in this key leadership position. Please join us in welcoming Dr. Nuño as she steps into this important role supporting the president and advancing the mission of our University.

“Dr. Nuño’s breadth of experience in serving the Stan State student population will bring the expertise needed to ensure our razor-sharp focus on student success,” said President Britt Rios-Ellis. “She is a compassionate, strategic and culturally and linguistically resonant leader from the Central Valley — and clearly an excellent choice to support the complexities of higher education and Stan State.

“I would like to express my deepest appreciation and admiration for Dr. Cindy Visot for leading the Office of the President organization process and supporting me throughout this past year.”
