Welcome to VALLE,
The VALLE Initiative (Valley Access for Latino & Immigrant Education) is a year-long college transition and success program within Monarch Scholar Services at Stanislaus State. A small cohort of incoming students, VALLE supports undocumented students, students from immigrant and farmworker families, and first-generation college students as they transition into higher education.

The VALLE Initiative increases postsecondary access, college readiness, and student success for children of farmworkers, undocumented students, students from immigrant families, and first-generation Latino students by providing culturally responsive programming, family engagement, leadership development, and meaningful connections to campus and community resources.

Applying for VALLE
VALLE welcomes incoming first-year and transfer students who identify with one or more of the following:

Undocumented students

Students from immigrant families

Students from farmworker families
-
First-generation college students
-
Students committed to building community, leadership, and academic success
The program intentionally serves a small cohort of approximately 10–15 students to provide personalized support and foster strong relationships among participants.

Participation is limited to approximately 10–15 students to ensure a personalized and high-impact experience.

More about the VALLE Initiative
Beginning with the VALLE Summer Institute and continuing throughout the academic year, students receive culturally responsive support, leadership development, family engagement and opportunities to build meaningful connections with peers, faculty, staff and community partners. The VALLE Initiative is more than a summer program; it's a year-long experience designed to support students throughout their transition into college.
As a member of the inaugural VALLE Scholars Cohort, students may receive:

A personalized first-year college transition experience

Membership in a supportive cohort of VALLE Scholars

A participation stipend upon successful completion of program requirements

A VALLE Scholar Success Kit, which may include a backpack, notebook, writing supplies, and other college success materials

College success and leadership workshops

Financial aid and scholarship guidance

Family engagement programming
-
Off-campus cultural and community-building experiences

Meals and refreshments during program activities

Recognition at the annual VALLE Scholars Recognition Ceremony
Students selected into the program become members of the VALLE Scholars Cohort, a supportive learning community committed to academic success, personal growth, and building a strong sense of belonging at Stanislaus State.
The experience begins with a five-day transition institute where VALLE Scholars will:

Build friendships with fellow cohort members

Explore campus resources and student support services

Learn strategies for academic success

Navigate financial aid and scholarship opportunities, including the California Dream Act

Connect with Monarch Scholar Services and campus partners

Strengthen confidence before beginning their first semester
Following the Summer Institute, VALLE Scholars continue participating in opportunities designed to support academic success, personal growth, and community engagement, including:

The VALLE Initiative recognizes that families play an essential role in student success.
Throughout the program, parents and family members will have opportunities to participate in bilingual information sessions designed to increase understanding of the college experience, financial aid, campus resources, and strategies to support students throughout their educational journey.
Students who successfully complete the program will be recognized during the annual VALLE Scholars Recognition Ceremony, celebrating their accomplishments, resilience, and commitment to higher education.
Upon completion, students will become members of the inaugural VALLE Scholars Alumni Network, joining a growing community of students committed to educational success and giving back to future VALLE Scholars.
