Join Professor Loretta J. Ross on a transformative five-part series on how we can create a Calling In Culture and learn about the relationship between Call Out/Cancel Culture and White Supremacy. You will gain and deepen the skills needed to have difficult conversations that serve as the building blocks of progressive movements against all forms of bigotry that are part of white supremacy, as well as learn about the political catalysts for a culture of disposability, isolation, and punishment. We’ll explore building solidarity to take on white supremacy across different experiences in race, class, and gender.

Why is it that increasing numbers of educators are questioning our conventional grading practices? Can we really do things differently? In this interactive workshop, Susan D. Blum works through some of the foundations for the practices bundled together as “ungrading” and then introduces some of the practices that she and others employ. There will be time for workshopping and brainstorming with colleagues in your general disciplines, and time to reflect on potential challenges and ways to anticipate them.

Description: Ungrading is an important topic of conversation right now in higher education circles. Why? Traditional grading systems have been shown to be statistically invalid, unreliable, and oppressive, particularly to students who face systemic inequities. Ungrading provides a path to liberation in the classroom through pedagogical practices that can begin small. Come join us and learn more about what ungrading is, how we integrate it into our STEM classrooms, and how it transforms our classrooms into more equitable spaces.
