Dr. Francois Raffoul, from Louisiana State University, will be presenting a lecture for our Philosophy Lecture Series.  His lecture is entitled "Thinking the Event". His talk will draw on his most recent work on the event, particularly the ideas of Hannah Arendt and Martin Heidegger.

About the Author
François Raffoul is a professor and Chair of Philosophy at Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, having previously taught at SUNY Stonybrook and Stanislaus State. He is a graduate of the École Normale Supérieure, agrégé de philosophie, and he obtained a Doctorate in Philosophy from the EHESS, Paris, France, under the direction of Jacques Derrida.

In addition to numerous articles and noteworthy translations, he has published four books in French and English, the most recent being Thinking the Event (2020). He also co-directs the book series Contemporary French Thought for SUNY Press.
