Dr. K.D. Motes is an assistant professor in Ethnic Studies at Stanislaus State. Dr. Motes is an enrolled citizen and native of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma who earned his doctorate in Native American History from UC Riverside. His research focuses on the relevance and viability of Indigenous philosophies and examines tribal community strategies aimed at cultural sustainability and intellectual sovereignty. He has published work on ancient Mississippian cultural continuity, racial encounters in Indian Territory, Indigenous enviro-cultural adaptation, and American hegemony.

Office hours: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays (1:30pm-3:30pm) and by appointment
