A federal judge in Texas issued a ruling on Friday, July 16, 2021, stating that the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program was created unlawfully. The decision is likely to be appealed to higher courts, and it does not immediately affect individuals who currently have DACA status. However, the decision blocked the federal government from approving new DACA applications. Our Immigration Legal Team (ILD) is working on analyzing the decision and will have more information to everyone about what this means exactly for our DACA recipients and the future of the DACA program. Please stay in touch for a DACA webinar this week.
The Stan State community and the Undocumented Student Services office at Stan State continue to stand in support of our DACA community, and those affected by this inhumane decision. We will continue to advocate for a legislative solution that supports all undocumented immigrants. Additionally, we are ready to assist and support students who may have questions or concerns.
Support resources at Stan State are available on this website. Any students needing assistance connecting with support resources related to DACA or undocumented status may contact our Undocumented Student Services office at (209) 667-3519 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
