The Higher Education Consortium of Central California (HECCC) was established in 1981 as a partnership of two universities and four community colleges committed to the advancement of academic excellence in a distinctively diverse region.

Even though the formal consortium has concluded, a rich partnership continues today under the new title of the Central Yosemite Region Articulation Network (CYRAN), including Stanislaus State, Columbia College, Merced Community College, Modesto Junior College, San Joaquin Delta College, and University of California, Merced. These intersegmental institutions work together to assist a large shared student transfer population within the California Central Valley/Yosemite region.

CYRAN's work today focuses on the maintenance of program grids designed to aid transfer students in meeting particular objectives.
