Inner Spaces/Outer Places

March 4th- April 11th, 2002

Wildlife Biologist and artist Joyce Majiski uses her experience as a Yukon wilderness guide to create installations about the “human journey” and its impact on interior and exterior spaces using etching, monoprint, silkscreen, handmade papers, handprinted textures, found objects and bookworks. “My work as a wilderness guide has taken me to both physical and emotional extremes. As a biologist and artist, my work explores my rugged journeys as timeless connections between ones’ self and the earth. I have concerns about how humans can so easily affect the natural world and its complex, delicate balance.”

Majiski received a B.S. in Biology from the University of Guelph, Ontario, Canada. She lives in Whitehorse, Yukon.
