I am a first-generation college student from a migrant community in the Salinas Valley of California. I attended the University of California, Merced as an undergraduate with limited knowledge of college, but I received mentorship and guidance from Professors that motivated me to pursue a doctoral degree. I was not sure what that meant or would look like, but I decided to give it a try. Through my Ph.D. program at UC Merced, I found a passion for teaching and student mentorship. Being from an immigrant family further motivated my research interests on race, social movements, and immigration. Specifically, I study how racialized and immigrant groups mobilize against threats and the long-term organizing outcomes for immigrant rights social movements. I am excited to be part of CSU Stanislaus and offer students the tools to succeed in their educational journeys.
