Steven Drouin identifies as a teacher-scholar who works to understand how to support diverse groups of students in classroom contexts. He attended San Francisco State University where he earned his B.A. in history and single subject teaching credential in social studies. While teaching high school history for nine years, he earned his MA in secondary education literacy from SFSU and his doctorate in educational leadership from Mills College. His dissertation worked to understand secondary education social studies teachers' perceptions of detracking. His current research focuses on first-generation graduate students' experiences in the classroom. At Stanislaus State, he teaches research methods, multilingual and multicultural courses, advises MA students, is the chair of UIRB, and is the co-chair of the MSR Exhibit on Space Advisory Committee.
