Stanislaus State’s College of Business Administration accounting concentration has earned the endorsement of the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA), one of the largest and most respected associations focused exclusively on advancing the management accounting profession.

IMA endorsement is a stamp of excellence for accounting programs that meet high educational standards. It signifies that a program provides the rigorous curriculum needed for students to prepare for the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) exam and move into successful careers in management accounting.

“This endorsement is a great achievement that will help our undergraduate accounting students better prepare for a rewarding career in management accounting,” said Terence Pitre, dean of Stan State’s College of Business Administration. “It is a testament to the quality of our curriculum that benefits both the future careers of our students and the organizations where they will work.”

To qualify for IMA endorsement, a program must substantially cover the CMA exam content with adequate faculty resources, be accredited by a recognized accreditation organization and designate a faculty member as an IMA campus advocate.

Professor Emerita of Accounting Annhenrie Campbell served as Stan State’s advocate for the endorsement.

Globally recognized, the CMA exam is a relevant assessment of advanced accounting and financial management knowledge in areas such as financial planning, analysis, control and decision support, all of which are increasingly critical in meeting the changing needs of business.

Stan State’s accounting concentration equips students with essential knowledge for diverse and fulfilling careers in public accounting, private industry, government, consulting, tax accounting and beyond. Accounting students develop skills in business communication, technical accounting methods, financial statement preparation, problem-solving and ethical decision-making.
