Stanislaus State’s chapter of Alpha Xi Delta, Iota Beta, earned the organization’s highest honor at the national convention.
Chapter Vice President Anahi Lopez represented the chapter in receiving the Xi Achievement Award. The organization is one of the oldest women’s fraternal organizations in the country.
The award, presented at the closing formal Rose Banquet, “recognizes chapters for superior achievement in living the mission and vision of Alpha Xi Delta.” That mission is for the organization to nurture unity and cooperation, foster intellectual, professional and personal growth, exemplify the highest ethical conduct, instill community responsibility and perpetuate fraternal growth.
Iota Beta’s nomination letter, written by Chapter President Laurel Mitchell, highlighted several accomplishments. The chapter has increased its membership as it rebuilds from the decline caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, it has consistently earned the highest grade-point average among Stan State’s Panhellenic sororities. The letter also praised the chapter’s dedicated community service, which has included raising funds for Sierra Vista Children and Family Services and other volunteer efforts.
“Our chapter's greatest strength is the passion we have for improving and providing a safe and welcoming space for our members and potential members,” Mitchell wrote. “We encourage members to pursue their dreams, realize their potential and foster healthy communication between each other. This has helped us to attract and retain talented and dedicated individuals.”
In addition to the XI Achievement Award, Iota Beta was honored with:
- The Order of the Quill, an accolade that recognizes chapters for excellence in sound management practices with an emphasis in communication, financial management and operational management;
- The 2022-2023 Improved Recruitment Strength Award;
- 2022-2023 Member Recruitment Excellence Award, and
- 2023 Academic Achievement Excellence Award.
