The Stanislaus State President’s Commission on Diversity and Inclusion (PCDI) has extended its deadline for proposals to fund campus climate projects and research, teaching and/or professional development activities.

The PCDI awards committee is accepting applications until 11:59 p.m. Monday, April 4. The committee uses a “rolling deadline” process that allows it to review proposals as they are received and make awards within two weeks.

While five grants have been made this academic year, grant funds are still available and proposals will be accepted during spring break, according to Vincent Laus, associate professor in the Department of Sociology, Gerontology and Gender Studies.

PCDI funds Campus Climate Grants and Research, Teaching and/or Professional Development Grants annually to further Stan State’s commitment to a welcoming, diverse and inclusive campus. Applications and information about the requirements are available online

Campus Climate Grants are awarded in amounts up to $1,000 to fund the organization and promotion of activities that foster a campus climate of diversity, inclusivity, equity and social justice. Faculty, staff and students are eligible to submit proposals. Past grants have funded a range of projects, including commencement ceremonies for Latinx students and underrepresented groups on campus, training workshops on how to support undocumented students and honorariums for keynote speakers.

Research, Teaching and/or Professional Development Grants are awarded in amounts up to $3,000 to fund innovative research, teaching and/or professional development advancing the principles of equity, diversity, inclusivity and social justice, specifically of historically underrepresented and underserved groups. Faculty and staff are eligible to submit proposals. Past grants have been used for travel to conferences or research sites, project supplies, literary materials and other expenses incurred for research that promotes diversity and inclusion.
