A groundbreaking first-ever doctorate program and newly developed master's degree majors are raising and expanding the academic program at California State University, Stanislaus.
In addition to the Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership degree program that will open with its first cohort this fall, CSU Stanislaus has expanded its master's degree offerings. An Ecology and Sustainability Master's Degree program opened in Fall 2006, the second of a planned series of Executive Master's Degree in Business Administration cohorts will open in Stockton in April, and a Master's Degree in Genetic Counseling will be offered starting in September. Plans are nearing approval by the CSU for a Master's Degree with concentrations in Nursing Education and Gerontology that could be starting up in the Department of Nursing as soon as this fall.
The new programs are expected to generate increased interest in the expanding CSU Stanislaus Graduate School which includes 23 master's degree programs with an enrollment of more than 1,750. Other recent master's degree additions to the graduate program in Criminal Justice and Social Work have proven successful, with the focus on workforce demands and education of students who can step into high demand professional-level jobs.
Applications are now being accepted for the three-year Educational Leadership Doctorate program that is expected to start up with an initial cohort of 20 to 25 candidates. Development of the program is being coordinated by Dr. Steven Lee who comes to CSU Stanislaus with extensive doctoral level experience at other universities. Classes will be conducted on the CSU Stanislaus campus by a core of 20 College of Education faculty and another 12 from other University departments or from off-campus. Two specializations will be offered -- one in leadership for preschool to grade 12 schools and the other for community college leadership.
A series of information sessions on the doctoral program are being conducted in the region through mid-April, with the priority application deadline scheduled for April 30.
