California State University (CSU) Stanislaus College of Education student Shannon White was honored in March as the 2011 Outstanding Young Woman by the Stanislaus County Commission for Women.
Ms. White is pursuing her undergraduate degree in liberal studies at CSU Stanislaus with the goal of becoming an elementary school teacher. In addition to her university studies, Ms. White is deeply involved in her community: she serves as a tutor to English-as-a-second-language students, a volunteer at the Modesto Gospel Mission and the Community Hospice Hope Chest Stores, and a Sunday school teacher.
Ms. White is a native of Modesto and graduate of Davis High School.
