High school juniors who are making plans to attend a California State University campus and want to make sure they are on the right track can find the advice they need at California State University, Stanislaus.
Students who are receiving their Early Assessment Program (EAP) test scores this month, part of the California Standardized Test administered in the spring, are advised to examine the results and plan accordingly in their preparation for college. More information on the EAP assessments is available on the California State University website at www.calstate.edu/eap. Questions can be directed to Gabriela Nuno, regional EAP recruiter at CSU Stanislaus, at 209-664-6835 or by e-mail at gnuno@csustan.edu.
By studying their STAR Student Reports test results and making needed adjustments in their senior year classes, students can give themselves a better chance of not having to take mathematics and English remediation classes at the college level. Many first-time freshmen admitted to the CSU who have earned high grades in high school end up in remediation classes because they have not properly prepared for college-level classes.
The goal of the EAP program is to have California high school graduates enter the California State University system fully prepared to begin college-level study. The program was established as a collaboration of the CSU, State Board of Education, and State Department of Education to provide opportunities for students to measure their readiness for college-level English and mathematics in their junior year of high school. The program is designed to facilitate opportunities for high school students as a reminder to continue to improve their skills during their senior year.
