Stan State Art Space invites you to the reception for the fine art exhibition A Ludicrous Build by New York artist John Jacobsmeyer.

Jacobsmeyer will give an artist talk about his work at 6:30 p.m., followed by a question and answer period from the audience. The exhibition will continue until the 19th of October and is free and open to the public.

About the Artist
Jacobsmeyer's paintings and woodblock prints are inspired by his own personal gaming. There is a ludic joy that comes from one’s immersion in a game world, which is especially true in video games. With these artworks inspired by gameplay, Jacobsmeyer hopes to elicit a particular uncanny wherein “old-school” Renaissance illusionism is disrupted by algorithmic glitches. These works offer a personal read of our culture's ongoing trend towards inhabiting a virtual reality.
