Fifth Annual Ethnic Studies Conference

As a response to racism, imperialism, and oppression, students at San Francisco State University (and later UC Berkeley) led a five-month strike in 1969 to institute Ethnic Studies. Building upon the intensified global socio-political context of the time, student activists at Stan State pushed to create Ethnic Studies on campus in 1972. Thus, the annual Ethnic Studies conference at Stan State this spring semester will commemorate its 50th anniversary as a program.

There is a lot to celebrate, including that Ethnic Studies will (finally) become its academic department this summer. This conference will feature several speakers, including founding faculty and recent alumni of the program.
