This Will Lead to the Hard Stuff: Video and Mixed Media

  • October 21 – November 14, 2002
  • Opening reception October 22, 6:30 pm
  • Artist talk in the gallery at 7:00 pm

Bryan Konefsky explores issues of identity, normalcy, community, and maleness through provocative images and objects in daring and unexpected relationships with his video installations. Using video, found objects, and a sense of humor and irony in bizarre confrontation, Konefsky’s creations compel the viewer to become involved in his thought processes, and participate in the presentation with his or her reactions to the whole.

Bryan Konefsky resides in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he teaches film/video history and production courses through the Media Arts Program at the University of New Mexico. He also serves as the training coordinator for Community Access Television Station 51, is a member of Basement Films, a regional film cooperative, and a member of the board of Directors of AC2, a not-for-profit exhibition space. Bryan Konefsky’s work has been screened/exhibited in such venues as the European Media Arts Festival in Osnabrück, Germany, the Long Beach Museum (L.A.), the AFI Film Festival (L.A.), L.A.C.E. (L.A.), the Knitting Factory (New York), the Kitchen (NYC), Artcite (Windsor, Ontario), and the Dallas Video Festival (Texas). Currently his work is being distributed by Peripheral Produce in Portland, Oregon.
