Edgar Antonio Alamo (he/him) is a Latinx lighting designer and educator based on Yokut land in California’s Central Valley. His work centers on lighting and media design as technical and collaborative practices within theatrical productions.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from California State University, Stanislaus, and a Master of Fine Arts in Theatrical Design & Production from California State University, Fullerton. Edgar currently serves as a Lecturer of Lighting and Media at California State University, Stanislaus, where he teaches courses in lighting design, stagecraft, and workshop-based production.
In addition to his academic work, Edgar maintains an active professional practice as a freelance designer. His work includes lighting, projection, and sound design, as well as assistant and associate lighting design, drafting, and visualization for university, regional, and professional theatres. His professional practice informs his teaching through an emphasis on industry-standard processes and production-based learning.
