Dr. Noelle Won received her doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA). She is a former elementary school teacher with experience teaching a diverse population of students in the Los Angeles Unified School District. Dr. Won was also a GATE teacher who loved teaching with student-led mathematics problem solving, purposeful visual and performing arts for the teaching of history, and the use of engaging and meaningful literature to develop students’ language and analytic skills.

Dr. Won has mainly taught mathematics methods courses in the Multiple Subject Credential Program, where she emphasizes the development of conceptual understanding, productive disposition, and communication in mathematics. Dr. Won’s courses integrate clinical work and develop high-leverage practices such as eliciting and interpreting student thinking, and effective modeling and explaining. Dr. Won has also developed a year-long residency pathway for Bilingual and Education Specialist candidates with partnering school districts.

Her research interests include feedback on new teacher practice and strengthening clinical segments of teaching preparation. She is also interested in ongoing improvement science and work towards preparing teacher candidates who are equipped to pursue equity and restorative justice.
