What: Great Valley Writing Project Young Writers Symposium

When: Friday, March 8, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Where Modesto Junior College West Campus, 2201 Blue Gum Ave., Modesto

Who: Kindergarten through 12th-grade students. Sessions will also be offered for teachers and parents.


Details: At the Spring Young Writers Symposium, students at all grade levels will learn new creative and productive writing strategies.

Sessions for teachers and parents will offer new ways to assist their students with writing both in the classroom and at home. The strategies meet the standards outlined in the newly adopted California Common Core Standards and will vary in content area from personal to career and technical to academic.

Deadline for registration is March 1; however, space is limited to 300. Registration is $25 for teachers and parents and $10 for students. To register or get more information, contact Ms. Suzanne Houlden at (209) 667-3490.

The Great Valley Writing Project at CSU Stanislaus is a local site of the National Writing Project (NWP), the most significant coordinated effort to improve writing in America.
