Demery is the first CSU Stanislaus soccer player to get a national team call-up and the only NCAA Division II player on the U-23 roster.
"Karenee is a special player and person," Warriors coach Gabriel Bolton said. "After watching her play in our conference for three years as well as a full slate of Division I opponents every spring, there is no doubt in my mind that she can compete at that level."
The team will train at the Home Depot Center in Carson from April 13 to 20 and will play two matches against the under-20 team, which recently won the U-20 FIFA World Cup.
Bolton broke the news to a surprised Demery last week.
"It's just such an honor to be invited," said Demery. "God has just really blessed me. I wouldn't even have this opportunity without my family, coaches and teammates. So I'm just so thankful for them."
The U-23 team will take on the U-20 team at 10 a.m. April 16 and 4 p.m. April 19 at the Home Depot Center. Both matches are expected to be open to the public.
"I am most looking forward to just being in that atmosphere — getting to play and spend time with these women," Demery said. "I think that is just going to be amazing, and I can't wait."
Demery — a three-time All-American and an Academic All-American last year — is already CSU Stanislaus' most decorated women's soccer player. She is also a two-time West Region and CCAA Most Valuable Offensive Player of the Year.
The junior from Merced was twice named the university's Female Athlete of the Year. She owns the university's single-season and career records in goals, points and game-winning goals.
