Wells Fargo is continuing its support of Stanislaus State students for 2018 with a generous $35,000 contribution to The Wells Fargo Keeping the Promise Fund, which benefits student scholarships and well-being.

“There are so many talented students who, if given the opportunity, could excel in their academics, graduate from college and lead successful lives,” said Oscar Cabello, district manager for Wells Fargo’s Modesto District. “Unfortunately, many face barriers — financial burdens, homelessness and hunger — that deter them from completing their secondary education. These funds can help alleviate some of these burdens and give students the chance to focus on their academics.”

Students who participate in the Promise Scholars and Veterans Affairs programs continue to benefit from contributions from Wells Fargo, which also provides financial literacy workshops for students.

This year’s gift widens its scope to benefit three Stan State funds:

  1. The First-Generation Presidential Scholars Initiative aims to expand opportunities for Central Valley students who do not have a family history of higher education. The Initiative provides scholarships alongside internships and/or mentorships with community leaders.
  2. Promise Scholars links college-bound students from foster care environments with counselors trained to help them transition to and succeed in postsecondary education.
  3. The Campus Cares program, started by Stan State faculty, supports the Warrior Food Pantry and offers emergency assistance to students.
