Two more information sessions for the California State University, Stanislaus Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership degree program’s third cohort in Stockton, scheduled to start in June 2010, are set for January 12 in Modesto and February 24 in Stockton.
Applications are now being accepted for the University’s first doctorate program that made its debut in September 2008. The priority deadline for applications is Monday, February 15, 2010.
One-hour information sessions will be held 5 p.m. Tuesday, January 12 in the Staff Dining Room at Modesto Junior College, 435 College Avenue, and 5 p.m. Wednesday, February 24 in the Chartville 1 Room of the Educational Services Building at the San Joaquin County Office of Education in Stockton, 2901 Arch Airport Road.
Designed for educators interested in earning a doctorate to advance their careers in education, the groundbreaking program has 40 students enrolled in the two cohorts. The three-year doctoral program is designed to meet the need for highly trained educational leaders in the Central Valley and Sierra foothills. Two specializations are offered -- one in leadership for preschool to grade 12 schools and the other for community college leadership.
Classes will be held on Friday evenings and on weekends to accommodate working professionals. Many of the courses are designed so that a significant portion of class requirements can be fulfilled online.
Dr. Jim Riggs, Interim Director and Professor of Advanced Studies in Education, can be contacted for information by e-mail at jriggs1@csustan.edu, or by phone at (209) 667-3364 or (209) 664-6789.
