Shirvani and Trach Coaches
Local dignitaries and community members were on hand Tuesday evening, April 26, when Turlock Mayor John Lazar presented California State University (CSU) Stanislaus President Dr. Hamid Shirvani with a ceremonial Key to the City for the University’s role in bringing the 2011 NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships to Al Brenda Track at CSU Stanislaus’ Warrior Stadium in May.

The event is expected to attract more than 1,000 student-athletes from across the nation and generate $500,000 in revenue for the City of Turlock and the surrounding area. Segments of the championship will be broadcast on CBS television. Mayor Lazar pointed to the event as an example of the positive collaborative efforts of the University, the City of Turlock, and the Turlock Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau in attracting outside visitors to Turlock

The three-day event takes place May 26 through 28 and is open to the public. For ticket information visit www.warriorathletics.com.
