The Office of Service Learning at California State University, Stanislaus is partnering with Head Basketball Coach Larry Reynolds and his men’s basketball student/athletes to co-sponsor a sports fitness clinic for 3 to 5 year old students and their parents enrolled in the Turlock Head Start program.
Head Start students from Crane Elementary, Cunningham Elementary, Osborn Elementary, and Wakefield Elementary schools will learn fitness tips from Warrior athletes and coaches through fun sports-related activities. The soccer field will be transformed into different sport “stations” for activities such as Dodgeball, Soccer and Kickball. Under the direction of Coach Reynolds, CSU Stanislaus students interested in fitness education and health will be showing younger students sports related activities and information on healthy eating habits. The young students and their parents will also receive information about healthy foods along the way. Coach Reynolds will also be sharing age appropriate activities and positive ways to encourage children and their parents to adopt and maintain a healthy, active lifestyle.
This fun and educational event will take place at the CSU Stanislaus Recreation Soccer Field on Friday, April 30 from 10 a.m. to noon. Enter the campus off Geer Road and park in Lot 8, across the street from the soccer field and near the Faculty Development Center.
