The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi Chapter 282 at California State University, Stanislaus welcomed new student and faculty members to its ranks during a May 1 ceremony.
Students who are achieving high marks academically qualify for scholarly distinction and membership in Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest, largest, and most selective all-discipline honor society.
The CSU Stanislaus Phi Kappa Phi Chapter has been active during the current academic year. Members handed out more than 200 books collected from their ranks and University supporters during a “Spooktacular Book Drive” to children who attended the Halloween Gala at The Village housing complex.
Phi Kappa Phi Awareness week activities prior to the annual member induction ceremony included sponsorship of the University Library’s Warrior Book Collection Contest, a staged reading of Bertolt Brecht’s “Galileo” by the Theatre Department, and an Anarchist Workshop organized by the History Department featuring speakers and literature on anarchist theories of a just society.
New student members include Scott Kaiser of Arnold; Rebecca Koehn and Kristen Fortin, both of Atwater; Nickolas Weder of Ceres; Grant Langlois of Concord; Araceli Garcia and Yolanda Reynoso Jiminez, both of Delhi; Claudia Aceves of Escalon; Danielle Dabney of Fountain Valley; Laralyn Murphy of Hughson; Heather Stewart of Linden; Charlene Emerson and Claudia Torres, both of Livingston; Gurvinder Kaur and Alyssa Toone, both of Manteca; Teena Starchman of Mariposa; Margaret Salas, Brenda Reyes, and Ryan Ballinger, all of Merced; Christina Robles, Brian Swain, Lauren Balos, Joni Busby, Yvonne De La Cruz, Faye Snowden, Christopher Johns, Marissa Puthuff, Mark Rosa, Melonie Saleh, Li Wen, Amy Schloss, Eric Rodriguez, Mark Scholl, Raquel Ruelas, and Emilia Louis, all of Modesto; Kimberly Morris, Katie Knell, David Pritchard, C.
