Students from California State University, Stanislaus served notice during the recent California Human Resources Management Championship competition that they are building a national dynasty, turning in an impressive showing to claim their second straight state title.
Defending national champion CSU Stanislaus became the first team to claim back-to-back California titles, wiping out the other 12 teams in the February 24 and 25 competition at Fresno State University. Coached by Dr. Ed Hernandez of the Management, Operations, and Marketing Department, the team of Michelle Page of Tracy, Kathy Finney of Modesto, and Christopher Clough of Manteca set two scoring records in the semi-finals and finals. Merced College transfer George Medina of Livingston was backup player. Their win over San Jose State was one of the largest margins of victory in the 14-year history of the HR Games.
"I commend and applaud their outstanding achievement which brings distinction and recognition to the College of Business Administration and to the University," CSU Stanislaus President Hamid Shirvani said.
The victory qualified CSU Stanislaus for the April 27 and 28 Pacific Western Regional HR Games Championships at Fresno State which will include teams from 10 western states. CSU Stanislaus won the Pacific Western Regional last year on its way to claiming its first ever national championship in Washington, D.C. This year's national finals will be held June 23 and 24 in Las Vegas.
